exporting a bike to France from US
I just finished the paperwork for the French title to our us bikes
the bikes are DR650 , not sold in France anymore but were sold new prior to 2000. ( we are both French/ US citizen)
things to do in the us
1)Proof you own the bike for 6 month prior shipping it/ exporting it.
2) ask your embassy for a declaration of you moving back to France ( you can always come back to reside to the US.
3)find a shipper and do a declaration of goods
4)ship the bike and wait a while if by boat......
5) send an email or letter to Suzuki France to ask certification bike was standard ( legally sold in France) ($150 per bike)
6) ask a dealer to inspect the bike $50/ bike and 10 minutes if the bike is not customized too much ( our are a bit ,tanks seat , suspension , luggage , protections... but no problem there.) blinkers and mirrors need to be on it.
7)go to the prefecture of the town where you are supposed to live in and ask for a "carte grise" title $100 per bike
8) go anywhere they sell tag to put on the bike
ps;YOU STILL HAVE A TITLE IN THE US FOR YOUR BIKE
AND YES YOU ARE DONE AND HAVE A French DR650
