UN 38.3 Test Results For Ocean Freight
TLDR: shipper requesting non-existing lithium battery test report for regular non-lithium battery.
I went with shipping my bike from KL to UK. However, the shipment is being delayed because the shipper requires UN 38.3 Lithium Ion Battery Test Results.
The bike was purged and battery disconnected by a BMW workshop and then crated and loaded into a container by the shipping agent. Only now is the shipper (i.e. the ship company not the agent) asking for UN 38.3.
I’ve told the agent that my BMW (2013 R1250 GSA Triple Black) has a lead acid glass mat no maintenance battery NOT lithium. But the shipper is still demanding a UN 38.3 report.
It’s looking like bike will miss shipping date unless this gets resolved .
Any suggestions?
