Broken again :(
For about a week now I have to select and load the posts 24 hour, then I have to sign on manually because now it wont remember me. Once I sign on it takes me back to the front page and I then have to reselect and load the last 24 hours page again. In effect sending me around in a circle. Up until then it had been working fine for 2-3 weeks.
Why wont it remember me anymore ?

I am still having this happen a lot, and what I have recently been doing is to follow some advice given in previous threads. If it looks as if I have been logged out, I have refreshed the page to check whether or not I am genuinely logged out before trying to log in again.

Its your browser that's at fault. The browser stores the cookie associated with the bookmark/site.
Find the cookie, and delete it. Login to HU again with your uid/pw and then navigate to the page that generates the last 24hrs of threads:
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...daily&hours=24
That's the entry that should be saved in your bookmarks/favorites .
PS. Don't forget to click the "remember me" or "stay logged in" button
Cheers,
John

Also first try the logout link! Even though you're sure you're not logged in! Weird I know, but when you then login you should be good to go. (The problem is there are two systems here connected by a third - and the two aren't properly in synch currently. We ARE working on it! The test server is getting hit hard by our new development team and they're pretty much solved, but there's a long way to go before we can roll it out to the live server.)

If it is my browser, why did it work for 3+ weeks then suddenly stop working?
I have been doing the delete cookies bit on and off ever since the changeover, but then for a while that seemed to be fixed. looks to me it has now been unfixed. certainly something has changed and it is not the browser.
I see there is now a new features thread.. seems to be the same strategy microsoft took with windows, never bother fixing problems just add more features. I hope not.

Note that there have been NO changes to the live HU site in over a month. So nothing has changed here. The Test/Development server is undergoing major changes and testing to solve all problems however. We're hoping for a rollout to live in about 2-3 weeks.
In the meantime, logging out via the link in the yellow box, then logging in with "Remember me" ticked, SHOULD work fine. I use Firefox and have no problem. When I test in IE9, that works fine too.
Remember that even when it looks like you're not logged in, you might still be logged in - refresh or change to another page, and before posting be SURE that the "Welcome, username" box has your user name showing! If so, all should work fine.
Sorry for the aggro guys, we are doing our best to solve it permanently.

For future reference I am on Firefox 3.6.18 running under ubuntu 10.10
did the delete cookies again, and signed on. it jumped me back to the age showing signed off, but at least it did not take me back to the start. when I tried to post this it had me as being signed in. when I said 2-3 weeks ago, that is very general as I have little sense of time. I just waited while hoping it would get fixed, until I got fed up waiting.

Ahhh... You didn't say you were running a proper OS
I have an old laptop running Ubuntu 11 & FF, so will see if I can replicate.
Cheers,
John

Well OldBMW, mine works as it should - Ubuntu 11.04 and Firefox 4.0.1
The only thing that is slightly tiresome is that:
If I connect to the last 24 hour digest and then login, it leaves me on the "home" page rather than taking me back to where I was when I logged in.
This also happens in Win7 & Firefox 5 though so thats down to the website.
Cheers,
John

This is the very thing I originally mentioned. BUT, for over a month before it did not happen and I thought everything had been fixed until this started to happen. ie a month or so ago it was working properly.. I usually just logon and scoot through the last 24hour posts.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
