Just joined the site belatedly cos i been lurking on and off for the past year. Come from a sports bike riding background but after a year of backpacking and meeting a few bikers on the road decided when i got back to get myself and adventure bike and do a trip.

Well a bit about me - I have just finished prepping a real clean and fresh 2007 DRZ400S for a trip to africa (down west). Sitting fully prepped and ready to go. Did a lot of research and concluded the DRZ400 was the most capable solo adventure bike out there. Spent a lot of time researching the mods and additions i have done to the DRZ and as she sits now i am really proud and pleased with it.

BUT!!!!

Why do ladies enter our lives at the least convenient times??

I have now met a girl and she wants to quit her job and come with me. So its back to the drawing board!! I am now after a bike capable of 2 up travel. Any suggestions, currently the main 2 are in my mind the 1200 GS and the super tenere. Any other suggestions???

Im in two minds about the DRZ to sell or keep? The road of bones is an adventure i definately want to do during the summer in the next few years. So i am really tempted to store until i return from africa. I might try and sell it but suppose i wont be disappointed if it doesnt go!!!

Welcome my friend

Before investing in such a bike, the first question you must have in mind is "Is she going (the lady) to accept bumpy roads, wet camping , cold breakfast, no shower/bath......" Maybe a medium travel test in Europe is a good test .
