Two-Up on a Ural
Hi! Though I’ve been a member of HU for several years, I haven’t been active on the HUBB to date. My travels have been only in N. America...a 22,000 mile solo trip from my home in CT via a very wandering route to Deadhorse, AK and back on a BMW R1200RT called the Into The Light Ride during which I raised awareness and money for Suicide Prevention. This past summer I rode a DRZ 400S most of the way across the US on non-paved roads and trails following the Trans America Trail.
My wife (dvella on HUBB) and I are in the process of purchasing a Ural Sahara. We will spend the next year getting comfortable with the rig and planning a year-long trip through North, Central, and South America. We would be very interested in connecting with other Ural enthusiasts! Give us a shout!
Safe travels to all!
ps. We'll be at the Appomattox meeting this April

When will you be heading into Central America with the Ural, 2018/19?

Sometime in 2019, most likely crossing into Mexico in the Fall. We don’t have specific plans, nor will we. We plan to have a list of "must see" places and just follow the front tire the rest of the time.

Cool! Let’s stay in touch!
Where are you from? Any chance that you’ll be at HUBB VA or HUBB Ontario?

I'm in west central Alberta, Canada. I'll be doing the HU Canwest rally in August and am planning for the HU California rally as well. The HUBB VA and Ontario are about a 5 day ride one way, so they're not in the plans for this year.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
