Greece and Turkey July/Aug2021
Hello all!
I'm seeking advices for my next trip: i will cross Greece to reach Istanbul and, in a second moment, Kappadocia (Goreme is the destination). Coming back, I would like to see Konya, Pamukkale and most of the Aegian Sea saeside heading north, toward Canakkale. Then, back to Greece again and home (Italy by ferry).
I'm looking for advices concerning roads or places to see away from the mass tourism (the famous "hidden spots" that we all love). Furthermore, has anyone any type of experience about wild camping in these 2 countries? (tent + motorbike)
If someone is interested to join, I will go probably on July, from the 14th to the 30th.
Thanks a lot!! drive safe!!

I added this wild camping spot to ioverlander
At Goreme, it is right in the middle of the formations and also in the middle of the balloon launch site
Just out of Goreme. There were two bikers camped close by when we were there

I had a copy of an official goverment publication stating that the whole of Turkey could be regarded as a wild camping spot. We found that to be correct
2 weeks eh? We spent closer to 3 months going from Germany to Turkey - big figure 8 covering the whole country - and back to germany

Couple of years later we went to Greece - also for about 3 months. We were there in the off-season so wild camping was easy, but I gather the police are much more motivated by campground owners to make it hard for wild campers.
Obviously we were in a motorhome so your experience will vary

Go North from Goreme to Erzerum then stunning road down to Trebizond and back towards Istanbul on the old road that hugs the Black Sea.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
