How to: Overland Myanmar + video

Dear Hubb'ers

Thought I'd share the great experience we've just had crossing Myanmar from Thailand to India with Burma Senses.

I've written a blog post all about it on our Best Life in the World website which you can find here.

Managed to find time to edit a quick video of the trip too which is here.

If you need any further advice feel free to ask!

Now book a trip and do it

Does that mean that you have to take a guide? I was looking at crossing into Myanmar from China at Muse. Then riding to Kolkata, possibly via Mandalay and Bangladesh or along the top via Myitkyina into Assam. I thought the northern route would be more scenic.

You crossed into Myanmar and left to India. How easy were the border crossings?
Was there lots of paperwork involved?

Hi Goandays,

Not sure how easy the entry into the country would be via the northern Chinese route having not experienced it.

There was significant paperwork to do on the way in through Thailand which was handled by our guide, including issuing of our Myanmar registration plate etc.

exiting the country at Moreh wouldn't have been possible I doubt if we didn't have the officials there. It was a document-heavy departure!

Best of luck though, you'll love it!

Ben

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
