Motorcycle Tyres In Eastern Turkey

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post to ask whether or not anyone knows of anywhere to buy tyres in Eastern Turkey, we are currently in Erzurum awaiting our Iranian visa. Even a Turkish website that allows you to order the tyres online would be good as neither of us really want to travel all the way back to Ankara!!

Thanks a lot,

Christopher

Try contacting Bora Eris in Bandirma. He's running a Continental shop, but he can organize all sorts of stuff (chain/filters/...) and also other types of tyres for you.
I think you should be able to pay by credit card and he can send out to most big places in Turkey within 2 days (depending on availability).

His address:
boraeris (AT) eris.com.tr

Give him my regards!!

Bjorn

Thanks for that Bjorn, if I don't end up having to go back to Istanbul (courtesy of our Iranian visas not coming through) I will drop him an email.

The dreaded Iranian Visa.... sounds familiar. I've had problems as well when I applied back in Germany. Unfriendly and inefficient - had to phone the consul and that made things work out alright in the end, just in time.
Thankfully people in Iran are much nicer - I absolutely loved it there! If it wasn't for their slack visa sections I'd probably go there more often.

I bought a new tire when I was in Istanbul, but I left it with the dealer. When I got to Erzurum, I sent him a eMail with my hoteladdress, and he sent me the tire.

I dealt with Genc Demirel from Gencmoto.

Barbaros Bul, Iba Bloklari,
No:14,
Balmumcu / Besiktas, Istanbul

Tel. +90 (0212) 2742727
Fax. +90 (0212) 2724033
Mob +90 (0532) 2461306

gencdemirel (o) gencmoto . com

He takes credit cards and charges about 10-20 lira for shipping. He can order about anything for you, as long as you name the brand and type of tire. (dont expect him to know anything about your bike.)

And of course, don't blame me if anything goes wrong with the deal. I know, I tell you to send money blind to the other end of the country. I risked it, and it worked perfectly for me. I first got his address I believe of the HUBB where I read that he actually is a "motorcycle traveller" himself.

To get a tyre for your bike in Eastern Turkey is nearly impossible. I tried in Erzurum and found just a greasy little backyard workshop. They advised me to continue to Trabzon and try Ege Motor.
Well, this was nearly as bad. They offered to order a new tyre from Istanbul. It was supposed to be at Ege Motor by 9 am next morning. For this service they asked a hell of a price. Cash in advance....
By 9 am next morning (of course) there wasn't anything. They asked me to come back at 2 pm.

If anybody needs a tyre here, don't go to Ege Motor. Rather try Pirelli. They're on the D-885 going south from Trabzon to Yolu. I'd expect them to be more professional and no scam.
