Shipping from Dili to Darwin middle of July 2013
We are planning to ship our 2 bikes from Dili / Timor Leste to Darwin / Australia in July, probably on the 10th - maybe later. Is there anybody around that wants to ship the bike around the same date? So we could get a whole container together, which would reduce the costs.
Please let us know as soon as possible - we are planning to contact the shipping agency (Toll: Toll Group - Global Logistics Provider - Toll Marine Logistics - Shipping schedules) in the next few days....

Hey Heike! Jeff & I are in Jakarta right now and we are aiming to reach Dili around that time. Will keep you posted on our progress, trying to move fairly quickly. There is another couple here on Java on a tenere who might make it there at the same time, ill give them a holler.

Sorry, Marko - hope you recover fast.... we will see you in Australia!
We've got a quote now - a boat will be in Dili on the 15th of July, and reach Darwin on the 20th.
If we have 4 bikes or more together the costs will reduce, because we get a full container then.... so we need 2 more....
These are the prices if we DON'T get the full container:
Ocean Freight USD360.00 per motorbike (incl. the BAF) Container Service Fee USD 60.00 per motorbike
East Timor Tax 2.64% of the freight
Document Collect Charge USD 30.00 per Bill of Lading
but if I understand right there will be additional costs....

It looks like we will have 4 bikes - the full container load costs are:
FCL Shpt. EXP Dili – Darwin – (4 motorbikes)
Ocean Freight (FRT) USD800.00 per 20’GP container
Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) USD325.00 per 20’GP container
Wharfage USD 35.00 per 20’GP container
Document Collect Charge (DCC) USD 30.00 per shipment
Lift-On/Lift-Off (LOLO) USD 20.00 per 20’GP container
Trucking 1-way (TML Yard - Port) USD 80.00 per 20’GP container
Handling Charge USD100.00 per 20’GP container
East Timor Tax (ETT) 2.64% of the Freight USD 21.00
That would be approx. 360 US$ per bike....

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
