Wipeout on Laos road 1E. Need brake line.

My wife and I were were riding our trusty F800GS from Konglor cave to the road 12 border with Vietnam yesterday. The front ended slipped out on a slow curve on road 1E, near the new hydroelectric dam. A dusting of construction sand on the road. Aside from a small foot injury, we're doing alright, thanks to the medical and logistical help of the company that manages the dam and related road improvements.

Somewhere along the way though, something got tangled with the front brake line and it severed.

We got the bike to Thakek on the back of a truck where we're resting for a few days while looking to fix the brake. To that end, does anyone have suggestions on how I could find a replacement brake line? The BMW part is "34 32 7 700 781 - Brake-line control circuit, front." Anyone have a good parts or mechanic contact near Thakek, Laos?

A few ideas:
Have the OEM part sent from Bangkok.
Get a local "hydraulic hose" shop to have a look and see if that can repair.
Check the local motorcycle parts shops for something compatible.

Any advice would be great!

Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Both of you!

Good to hear that you are doing fine after the fall.
You might want to contact Dynamic Motors and BKK motors, I think they can send original brake line to you (most probably need to order it from Germany).

Hydraulic companies might be able to build it, but I am a bit sceptical if they have such a small ends available.

I will fly back to KL one week from now and I can bring the brake hose if needed (and send it forward).

Thanks Hemuli. We got that one part sorted by having a hydraulic hose company weld the banjos of the original (severed) part onto a new hose. Seems to work but we'll know more when my foot heals.

We'll be in touch!

Jeff

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
