The Mom Who Took Off On Her Motorcycle
Hi everyone! After seeing all the fabulous HORIZONS UNLIMITED videos and reading the threads, I took off--and wrote a funny, spirited book about my travels from New York to Alaska and back again. Here's the link link:
If you're wondering, "Should I, shouldn't I?" The answer is definitely yes! I encourage you to make sure your dreams win out over your fears,

Tribute to "The Mom"
Hi Diana , it is always with hesitation that I post here.... Got my courage up.... here it goes... what a creative video what an accomplishment to raise 7 children to adults - WOW What a Woman
I nominate you as "Mother Hubber"
I once heard the Governor of the Great State of Texas say.... "we women can do everything men can do ... and we can even do it backwards and in high heels...." it took me a minute but I finally figured out she was speaking not only about life in general but about dancing....
Anyway, I just posted a photo of my Grandma on my BSA Bantam Major (circa 1962) on rosa del desierto's "Poets without Borders" thread on the Hubb Pub. Grandma doesn't do it backwards, she does it side saddle...
check it out...
eat, drink good wine and be careful

Thanks for sharing this, Diana, and well done! I have a friend in a similar situation to you, who's been considering going on a road trip herself but thinks it's too late to start. Might just get your book as a gift for her, maybe it will inspire her!

Dalton not Dempter
Hello Diane,
i just finished your e-book. I took me back in time when I came across the country to Alaska from New York as well, but I never left. One discrepancy, The guy you met at the Motorcycle shop and came out in new threads. He hadn't ridden in 20 years and met his friends to ride the "Dempster" You mention the he was involved and state that is one of the longest roads in Alaska. I think you may have gotten some misinfo. the "Dempster" is in the Klondike of Canada. The Dalton or haul road is the road in Alaska that you may be thinking of.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
