Any good ideas?
The threads rustet and broke off inside on the muffler, any good ideas what i can do to fix? Welding new threads can be difficult because the surface need to be like it is now, best if there was some 8mm just screw in?All i find is so big and i cant drill out bigger hole because of the mounting bracket have to be 10mm hole and only 8mm bolt will fit.

I think you are better off using a "rivnut" or a "nutsert"

Thanks, i was looking at those too, but iam not sure i will manage to fit the edge, then i have to hammer down so it will be flat with surface. To get the old remains out i need to drill with 12mm and the rivnut is only 12mm so it will fall inn, thats why i wanted to use the old steel and make some threads in it. I order and see what fits best, found one with larger edge on top.

I'd plug weld the hole shut and re-drill n tap , no need for inserts or anything.

Yes i would too if i had equipment and skills for this job, iam not paying for fixing this..You know here they dont charge like one for a welding job Iam doing a insert one way or the other, its not like i have the exhaust muffler off every week.

This is a pretty important connection point. If you muffler is loose it WILL fall off. Bite the bullet and have someone weld, drill and tap it as JJ suggests. He KNOWS what it takes to stand up to the rigors of riding. Should NOT be very expensive.

No no it will never fall off, 3 bolts 8mm and the big clamp holding muffler.

Not immediately, but if left loose it will get looser over time. Vibration cracks can develop. I am just saying it is important to get everything tight as engineered. If the bolt was not necessary it would not have been put there.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
