New tires XT
Ok, so for the first time in many years i wanted to try something else than TKC80. It has been a big mistake, front Heidenhau k60 and rear Maxxis 6006. The grip in mud/sand was not big difference as wanted, but the worst part is handling. Its become nervous in corner on the Maxxis and road noice is terrible + vibration, noice from front tire but ok. Have you never tried TKC 80 i recomend you do, two different bikes to ride, no road noice and you can max out in corners + good offroad. Just my tip after 14years with TKC80 and never one slip on the pavement. Also big difference to change it, TKC is easy on, Maxxis struggle due to stiffer walls.

Discussing tyres is a never ending story
Here in Germany rules are that you fit the same tyre front and rear, but on my trips I usually fit a TKC80 in front, because it improves the steering ability on dirt and a long lasting tyre rear, like the Heidenau K60.

Yea normally on street racer i do match tires, but on this bike for my use its not importan, its all about what use and how you want it to perform. Michelin and Continental still best choice if you want best of both world riding. But i see problem finding TT tires in new series, and sometimes its no choice you grab what they have..

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
