Shipments done by Travellers

The HU Shipping Database!

From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.

For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:

Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.

Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.

Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

Air Menzies already handled the import in Auckland when the bike came from Malaysia, so I went with them again for the export to South America. All went very well. NZ typical pricing though.

No crate needed.

Definetly recommended!

Misleading information: I asked by email a quote for the total costs, at BOTH sides. I got a quote and paid in Dili exactly the quoted amount, 600 AUD. I asked mrs. Castulo about the cost at destination, included or not. She stayed vaguely. I was quite surprised to be charged in Darwin for another 290 AUD.
No service: I had to belay the bike in the container. Nobody checked. I had to prepare the dangerous good declaration myself. Never before - and I did shipping several times - I had to do this administration by myself.
Considerable delay: the shipping took twice the promised time.

If Australia is your destination and you are not interested in the eastern islands of Indonesia, consider shipping by air from Bali.

Manoj is riding an Enfield and we met on the road. He's working in this company but not dealing directly with the bike shippment. He can present you to the guy in charge of it. He was very helpful.

The indian company Expo Freight was good in everything expect the delay. Manoj who was my main contact but not in charge did his best to make it smoothly, sending email to his collegues of the department in charge and at the lower price. My bike finaly didn't get the planned vessel and arrived with average two weeks delay from the first date scheduled.

The arrival company in Malaysia took a small week to clear, they were not familiar with the process, now they are. Very good contact but quite expensice regarding what I paid in Indian. They care the insurance (180 rigits) for me and custom clearance. Contact : Irene Lim from World Link cargo, iren...@worldlinkcargo.com

The bike was very well packed by indians and found in good condition.

I asked Toll a quote for the costs at BOTH sides. I got a quote of about 600 usd and paid that amount in Dilli. However, when I arrived in Darwin to pick up the bike there was a second bill of 290 usd for harbour costs and terminal handling. I complained at Toll. Their response: "Sorry, next time we will make a better quote." There was NO service at all. In Dilli I had to fill the dangerous good document myself, which is generally the duty of the shipping agent. The bike was not crated but straightly strapped in the container. I did the strapping myself. Nobody checked it. In Darwin nobody could tell me how to get the bike cleared. The actual shipping time exceeded the estimated shipping time twice.

In short: HIDDEN COSTS, LONG DELAY, NO SERVICE. BAD! Avoid Toll if you can.
