Shipments done by Travellers

The HU Shipping Database!

From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.

For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:

Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.

Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.

Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

Bernd is a biker, so he will help as he can to make it easier the shipment. For me he was very helpful to find the best way to send the bike at the best price on Kuala Lumpur side, a real biker friendship.
At the Warzaw side with the same company, I first met Lukasz by having a BBQ at his house, is this necessary to say more?

To make it cheap, I disassembled my Enfield, removed, whells, fork, head and side boxes to make it as compact as possible, a key point to make a air shipment reasonnable. By the end, it was only 400 USD more than a shippment by sea to Istanbul. And if we consider the heavy customs clearance fees in Turkey contrary to Poland fees, it was probably almost the same price, tanks to Bernd and Lukasz.

I recommend these guys, they made the shipment as smooth as possible reagarding logistic and cost point of view. Both have a good bikers sipirit.

Motofreight specialise in bike shipping and were really easy to deal with and very efficient. They use Econotrans as their agent in Cape Town who were equally pleasant and efficient

Shipping time was estimated as 3 weeks and bike arrived on schedule, but I was advised to leave at least 2 week margin between estimated delivery date and when I needed bike as sea conditions at Cape Town often delay unloading. Econotrans don't mind storing the bike for a couple weeks - in fact I was then delayed a further 3 weeks before I could pick up the bike and they charged me nothing extra for this.

Good service: administration and crating was done as promised.
On time: shipment took a month as was statet before.

Sandra and Javier are running a motorcycle workshop in Buenos Aires and they understand exactly the needs of overland travellers.

They will introduce you into the process, make all appointments and tell you exactly what do to at what time. Everything is well prepared.

The shipping went perfectly, my motorcycle arrived in time in Cape Town.

Dakar Motos also handle other destinations.

Definetly recommended!

Shipment: From Brisbane, Australia to Valparaiso, Chile - July, 2015

BTAP
Narelle Leitch
Narelle@btap.com.au

Shipping did not work as planned, the vessel over Hongkong refused the Cargo as being Dangerous good (even the tank was drained and battery disconnected).
BTAP used another vessel that went over hamburg, this took 3 month instead of two and more $$ per CBM, but the additional cost was absorbed by BTAP.

So i could say it didn't work out very well, but BTAP is a small company and they are just so friendly and responsive to deal with. I think i exchanged almost 200 mails with them, never waiting longer than a few hours for an answer.

Freight and Document Cost: 620AUD (2.5cbm, USD 150.00 per cbm)
Transport of my own crate to port: 120AUD (180AUD if done by BTAP)

Destination (3 working days till release):
~180k Chilean Pesos Agent (Villa Kunterbunt)
307k Chilean Pesos Freight forwarder destination
157k Chilean Pesos Depot fees (can vary a lot depending on depot/no. of days...)

I always thought Valparaiso is an easy AND cheap port to ship to, not for me...
