Shipments done by Travellers

The HU Shipping Database!

From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.

For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:

Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.

Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.

Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

The motorcycle was shipped from New York to Iceland.

Crating of the motorcycle was not provided. I built the crate myself (see blog post for details).

Shipments, at that time, only went out once a week, on Saturdays. Due to high traffic, shipment date was not guaranteed. I waited for two weeks in Iceland for the motorcycle to arrive. If you plan more in advance and co-ordinate with Icelandair Cargo, guaranteed shipment date might be available.

Pick-up at Icelandair Cargo in Iceland was simple a quick. Proof of European Green Card insurance was necessary for the release of the motorcycle.

Shipment: From Darwin, Australia to Singapore - July, 2013

Toll Perkins
Amy.Batiz@tollgroup.com

This is an expensive and tedious exercise, not recommended. We chose this option as we missed the shipping to East Timor and Toll couldn't tell us when the next shipment would be. Darwin, Australia is an expensive place to stay and wait for the next ship. There is a lot of paperwork to be done in Singapore that can take a long time, don't assume you will get it all done in one day.

We had the option of towing the bikes from the Port to the Malaysian border, (the causeway between Singapore and Malaysia). The price for towing one bike was SGD$288, the price for the two bikes was double that even though they were to be put on the same truck. You still need to pay SGD$53.50 for an International Circulation Permit, SGD$10 for an LTA Autopass Card and SGD$3.00 to get into the port to access your bike.

We chose to ride our bikes from the port, we had to push them from the warehouse to the main gate/customs for the carnet stamp. So we had to buy insurance from AAS, at $264, plus  the ICP and LTA Autopass card and Port permit. These prices are based on shipping a BMWR80GS. Hope this information is of some use to someone.

Motorcycle Express

Gail is the shipping agent and general take-care-of-all-problems person.  Fantastic.

Gail Goodman
gailg@motorcycleexpress.com

I concur with other positive comments made about Gail and Motorcycle Express.  She got my bike on same plane that I was on, thanks to her referral to the Canadian ticket agent.  Motorcycle Express ships to and from all major Canadian cities.

I landed at 7 am at Gatwick and rode right out of the airport about 3 hours later. Taxi to customs warehouse; waited a few minutes; out of there.

Her compay also sells Europe-wide liability insurance.  Gail also put me in touch with the required import agent, Les Black, in London.

I didn't even see or have to deal with Customs, except for a one page form filled out before I left and emailed to Les.  All contact with everyone was by email, always with prompt responses.  Gail arranged this whole thing, from first contact to delivery in two weeks.

I've shipped my machine inter-continental 8 times and this was easiest ever and only one exactly on time as promised.  Really incredible.  Mention HU and get a modest discount.  Cheers.

You can find the whole explanation on how to ship your bike from Irkutsk to anywhere (Moscow, Novosibirsk, ...) along the Trans Sib HERE.

If it's not working, copy/paste this url:

As mentioned earlier, the whole process on how to do it can be found HERE.

As a quick note, we did not ship untill Moscow but untill Novosibirsk as we needed going south, but the destination doesn't really matter, it will only affect the price slightly as everything else remains the same (fee, crating,...) The procedure at Irkutsk is the same for going to Moscow or Novosibirsk or any other city for that matter along the Trans Sib.

Prices are fixed normally (by weight) and we paid for 2 bikes (DRZ400) 155€ for 2000km incl everything.

So I guess a GS would cost you around 300€ or less from Irkutsk to Moscow, including everything.
