Shipments done by Travellers

The HU Shipping Database!

From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.

For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:

Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.

Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.

Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

NIGHTMARE!

ship by sea only as a last resort!  DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHIPPER!

dropped off dec06, 2013 for shipment Dec 09, 2013, for delivery in Valparaiso Jan 09, 2014...

Actually left US Dec. 30th, 2013, actually arrived Jan. 29th, 2014.  Spent tons of money waiting around!

a million excuses but shipper did not really know his business.  If everything went smoothly, okay...slightest wrinkle, USELESS,  Geat at excuses though.  Poor at accepting responsibility or actually addressing the issue and getting shipment moving.

Gaston Etchart

Customs issues were relatively straight forward but shipper was not physically present to deal with issues.  He tried to save his money by dealing with it by email but it required personal attention.  He was in denial and it cost 3weeks.  DO NOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY BEFORE YOUR VEHICLE DOES!

Only my personal intervention saved the shipment at all, and was still billed extra $ for delay charges. (I added to cost at other end...quote looked good but beware potential extras!  They've got you over a barrel..."pay up or else"

same on other end.  Shipper disorganized, not knowledgeable, ran up extra costs needlessly.  He will deny all this.  King of Excuses!  All three customers PISSED OFF, DELAYED AND PAID MORE THAN QUOTED PLUS EXPENSES AND DELAY OF JOURNEY BY THREE WEEKS,

Seaboard Maritime made all the arrangements for my shipping of the bike including picking up a BMW shipping crate from Atlantic BMW (got crate for free), they delivered to warehouse , so i could meet the Customs officer to sign off on my bike, then crate it!  Made the shipping process every easy. Cost me maybe an extra $100 USD.

Shipped my bike from Cape Town to Los Angeles. Christopher and his crew were very helpful in arranging the shipment. I arrived at the Airport office that Christopher arranged. The crate for my bike I got from Atlantic BMW in cape Town, and Seaboard Maritime had it picked up and delivered to the facility at airport so that I could ride there, get Customs to sign off my Carnet and then I crated the bike right at the same spot.

Two days later I flew to LA, and My bike was waiting at the Air CArgo KLM destination 1.5 miles from LAX. I had the hotel shuttle driver drop me off at Air cargo office, get the proper paperwork, walked the ,5 mile to the US customs office to get the bike signed off and released.....  Walk back, put the front wheel back on my bike, and rode back to the hotel. My plan arrived at 2PM and by 6:30PM same day I was at my hotel with my bike!

Shipment from Los Angeles to Melbourne by seafreight

No box required. Max. 25% gas inside the tank. We delivered the bike with panniers, helmets and luggage mounted.

Duration 6 weeks

Costs: USA 765 USD and Melbourne 800 USD

Everything was perfect and well organized. They organized the quarantine inspection and handed over the stamped Carnet de Passage to us. We would use these companies again. They do a lot of shipments for motorbikes and cars. The bike and all the luggage has to be spotlessly clean.
