Emile van Hoogdalem is Passingalong, round the world on a XL 600 LM
A few years ago I started planning my trip around and November 2011 I will take of in persuit of the horizon.
I just want to discover the world for myself and learn all about other cultures.
The title “Passingalong” is chosen because it sort of fits in my view of the bigger thing. I will be passing along as I ride my motorcycle, people I meet pass along something to me and I will try to do the same.
The bike I ride is my fully prepared ’86 Honda XL 600 LM an old Paris Dakar racer that will now go round the world. good times! Emile van Hoogdalem

With no motorcycle experience, no mechanical skills, and little travelling done between the two of us, six months motorcycling the entire South America continent may seem like a bold choice, or simply foolish. That may be so. But, we're going to give it a go.

Homepage of a 15,000 km solo motorcycle trip throughout India, of which the south-to-north route (8,000 km) is linked with a fundraising action for a local NGO, high up in the Himalayas. The return route is not fixed yet, but will probably follow the eastern side of India.
Start of the trip is planned for May 15, 2012 (from India's south point in Kanyakumari).
There's also a separate travel blog on:

In June 2011 Rupert and Fanny set off from Cape Town on two KTM 990 Adventure motorcycles to Shanghai, a journey of some 35,000kms. The expedition takes them through the bush, deserts, savanna, and jungles of Africa to Egypt. Making their way through southern Europe, north, through France and across the English Channel to England, Wales and across to Ireland. Their original plan has been changed to take them back through Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and then across the vast country of China arriving in Shanghai some time in late 2012. Find out about their trip and follow their diary where their adventures often take a strange, unexpected or funny turn.
Fang Yi, a former professional volleyball player and recent motorcycle license holder, has a following of about a million followers on her Chinese website. Rupert has three of his Mum's friends following his site.

For some people, travelling thru Colombia by road is supposed to be a very dangerous endeavour, and even more if you go off the main roads. This book does not intend to prove otherwise. Colombian security has improved leaps and bounds, but if you get yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time (as in any country) things can go awful. Always ask around, and don’t take the roads we took for granted. Some are dangerous.
