Shipments done by Travellers

The HU Shipping Database!

From THIS page, you can find details of shipments ALREADY MADE by travellers, both air and sea, so you can plan your own shipment.

For each shipment, the details include Shipping Date, Cost, Shipper Contact details and a Description of the experience, often including very detailed and extremely useful information about the requirements for crating or the paperwork involved at the destination location.

If you are aware of any more up-to-date information, or you know of any shipping details for locations which aren't listed below:

Please let us know here for minor details, or
Submit information on a shipment YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE here.

Thanks to all who have contributed this information, keep it coming!

NOTE: This is not our normal view, but Google's API has somehow broken the view with a map and everything nicely laid out. We will fix it as soon as possible, but it's a very big job for us. Any Google API experts feel free to contact us! For now this will have to do, sorry.

Usage: Enter one or more of the fields, as you wish. Blank field means "all". Be sure to use correct country names, e.g. "United Kingdom" not UK or England. Unfortunately "united states" (united states of america doesn't work) gets United Kingdom as well, just work down to the bottom or last page. Not case-sensitive. Results sorted by newest first.

DakarMotos recently moved, so be sure you have their new address on Tres Arroyos in the Florida area of Buenos Aires.

Sandra and Javier

I can't speak highly enough of Sandra and Javier at DakarMotos. These people are without a doubt THE BEST at what they do. I created a huge problem for myself by losing all of my documents (temporary import doc, title, everything) the morning I was supposed to deliver the bike to the airport at Buenos Aires, and within a day Sandra had my bike cleared through Customs and ready to ship. She knows the system inside and out. Bike was weighed and put on a pallet, strapped down and shrink-wrapped. The next day I paid for the shipping and received an airway bill with tracking info. The bike arrived in Cape Town three days later and within two hours I had it cleared, off the pallet and riding away.
Note that my bike is a 250cc with hard panniers, so it is smaller dimensionally and only weighs 175kg with all gear and luggage. Thus the price to ship was less than the $2300 I was quoted, which is the normal price for a GS I believe.

Dave at Get Routed was great, he provided a crate/cage to ship the bike in, ( though I think we were lucky he had one available in Christchurch, we had to remove the front wheel and the screen to fit the bike in), and the price included all port costs and fees. We were able to put all our gear in the crate, (panniers, top box, tank bag and helmets). All arrived safely at Felixstowe 9 weeks after shipping from Christchurch, ( via Singapore ), although the crate had suffered some minor damage. The shipping agent was great at Felixstowe and kept me informed via email and phone regarding the collection date, and they helped me get the bike lifted to get the wheel back on. There was a bit of an issue with the agent sending the crate/bike to the Ipswich warehouse which would have caused up some pain and costs but an email to Dave and he sorted it out for us. Not sure if we paid over the odds or not but we were happy with the service and our bike arrived as expected.

Villakunterbunt
Enzo & Martina Tesser

I have not entered any contact details for these people as I really can not recommend them. I have ridden around the world, and have flown or shipped my bike on many occasions. This was the WORST and MOST EXPENSIVE company I have dealt with. My recommendation is to FLY your bike in or out of Santiago using someone like Julio Harboe . It's a lot less hassle, your bike arrives in 2 days instead of 2 months, and the price will be virtually the same.

ANL (organised by PJ's Customs)

logistics@pjscustoms.com.au

ANL are the only shipping company that go between Darwin and Dili, so you're forced to use them. ANL themselves were awful to deal with but I contacted the company that loads your bike in to the container and they can organise the shipping and paperwork for about AUD$50. They're called PJ's Logistics, very friendly people although a bit slack with organising and communication. They actually forgot to book my bike in with ANL so there was a mad rush on the cutoff day. Best to try and stay on their case.

The price is ridiculously expensive, and the AUD$1300 I paid was a bit off from the quote of AUD$800. My dimensions had grown fractionally larger but PJ's only sent me the updated price a week after I dropped the bike off and had left the country. Nothing I could do to repack the bike by then.

Bike arrived in Dili after about three weeks. I had a local friend help me out with customs at the port and then with releasing the bike from the container yard out near the airport.

Very costly. Quality of overall service is good as long as everything works fine. The moment a problem pops up, you are on your own.
